Maine Golf is relaunching the First Tee program in Maine to help promote the game to any child who has interest. Since the Covid golf bump, courses are busier than ever with full golf memberships and packed tee sheets. The kids have bumped to the end of the line and have limited access to these amenities. Maine Golf has taken over the Freeport golf facility you can see next to Route 1. They are going to build a practice facility along with a short course there that will be dedicated to the junior golfers of Maine. They will have the benefit of all the newest technology along with the national support of the First Tee.
As someone who owes a lot to the game, I would like to get behind this initiative with some help from the members of BHCC. I’ll be playing a golf marathon on Thursday, June 27th to raise funds going towards this plan. The goal will be to play from sunrise to sunset. All donations will be given to Maine Golf and will be tax deductible. Thank you in advance for the support. - Chad Penman, PGA
